Nicholas dePencier Wright - BA, JD, MBA, LLM (TAX), TEP
Nicholas dePencier Wright is principal legal counsel at Wright Business Law. He has over a decade of experience practicing corporate/commerical law and is a certified specialist by the Law Society of Ontario. Nick has extensive experience helping organizations structure, negotiate and finance their business strategies. He has been involved with numerous businesses and organizations at all stages of development from incorporation and financing to sale. Nick has also been actively involved in politics and the not-for-profit sector for many years and advises numerous not-for-profit organizations. Licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario, Nick holds Law (JD) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from Dalhousie University, a masters in tax law (LLM) from Osgoode Hall Law School and an Honours in Philosophy (BA) from King’s College, Halifax. He is a registered Trusts and Estates Practitioner (TEP), trademark agent, commissioner and notary public. Travis Chalmers, B.Sc. (Hons), B.C.L., LL.B. – Of Counsel
Having worked in tax law since 2005, Travis has a wide array of hands-on experience in the field. After working for nine years in a prominent tax litigation firm in Montreal, with emphasis on transfer pricing, R&D, and cross-border planning for multinationals, in 2014 he transitioned to tax planning for families and businesses of all sizes. Having recently taught himself programming to automate the drafting of common tax-driven legal documents, he’s bringing the practice of tax law into the 21st century. Travis holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Concordia University, as well as degrees in Civil Law and Common Law from McGill University. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2008, and is admitted to the Quebec Bar as a Canadian Legal Advisor.
Will Sapp, BA, MSc, JD - Articling Student
Will Sapp has worked across the technology and professional services industries for over a decade. He is currently articling at Wright Business Law. Prior to joining Wright Business Law, Will worked at Element AI where he helped develop and consult on artificial intelligence solutions for financial services firms. Will has also worked as a Manager at PwC Australia and as a Policy Officer for the Government of New South Wales. He holds a Juris Doctorate (JD) in Common Law from the University of Ottawa, a Master’s of Science (MSc) in International Relations (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in History (Cum Laude) from the University of Toronto. Will expects to be called to the New York Bar as an Attorney and as a Barrister and Solicitor by the Law Society of Ontario in 2020.
Sheline Roopchandani, BA (Hons) - Legal Clerk
Sheline is experienced in administration, marketing and social media management. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Toronto and is currently enrolled in the part-time legal clerk certification program at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology.
